Chinmaya Swayambhu Ayyappa Temple
The Chinmaya Swayambhu Ayyappa Temple located in the vicinity of Adi Sankara Nilayam, the maternal birth home of Sri Adi Sankaracharya, is sacred and unique in its own way. The great seer Sri Adi Sankracharya and his holy mother Aryamba had offered their daily worship to this self-evolved idol. The centuries old temple originally belonged to Melpazhur Namboodiri family, the maternal ancestors of Sri Adi Sankaracharya, which was taken over by Chinmaya Mission in 1989. Since then, Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF) has tirelessly worked for the timely preservation and conservation of the temple complex. As part of this venture, we are proceeding with the restoration of this temple. More than a century old clay tiles on the temple roof are damaged which are being amended according to the heritage construction style.
Your contributions towards this holy project will be strictly utilised for the restoration work of the Chinmaya Swayambhu Ayyappa Temple. It is our duty to protect and safeguard our temples which are the storehouses of our dharma, heritage and culture.
